Francine Prieto: Queen of her castle

PEP made an exclusive article which featured celebrities and their homes, kinda like MTV cribs but without the strip dance poles and the helicopter landing pad (or maybe they just left those out?). Anyway, here's a glimpse of Francine Prieto's sanctuary:

In her new townhouse, even without a Prince Charming, Francine is the queen of her own castle.

The glass wine rack beside the sofa displays unopened bottles of wine. "Collection 'yan ni Mommy," Francine says. "'Yong iba diyan, bigay pa ng mga kaibigan ng dad ko noong buhay pa siya."

The interior of Francine Prieto's townhouse has an eclectic European feel-straight lines, contemporary furnishings, and surprising elements. George Torres, the interior designer, says, "Ayaw nila noong very elegant na parang Victorian. Gusto nila very simple. Ang exact words na ginamit nila, they want 'yong simple and cute." All the furniture and appliances in the townhouse are brand-new. The most expensive single item Francine bought was the deep-red leather sofa, which cost over P50,000 at Play and Display on Quezon Avenue, Quezon City.

Francine with her pet Oslo, a Lhasa Apso. +++ Lucky dog.

On the third floor, a six-square-meter space is used as a mini-gym. The treadmill, bought three years ago, is now hardly used, since Francine started going to a gym in Greenhills, San Juan. "Hindi ako mahilig sa rubber shoes," she says, "pero pag kailangan ko, sa men's section ng department store ako bumibili." +++ She may have size 12's but who cares! Nice shot of her civilian derriere right there.

Goals: To finish my studies and to win an award

Why did you enter showbusiness? I was an artist since I was a child. But as I got older, it became more difficult to land good projects so I tried modeling. But I think I was made for showbusiness and so here I am.

What do you consider as the turning point in your career? When I did sexy roles, but also my shift to comedy in Bahay Mo Ba ‘To

If you weren’t in showbiz, what kind of career would you have? I'd have to finish my studies first because I wanted to be a doctor.

What is your biggest frustration/regret? I really wanted to be among the top three title holders in Bb. Pilipinas, but sadly, the farthest I got then was Top 12.

What do most people not know about you? I'm just your average everyday person -- I frequent malls, play at Timezone, those things. Hey, I also have a Friendster account.

What are you most proud of? I'm proud of everything that I've achieved because I now have a great career and I get to continue my studies.

What do you value most? Definitely my family.

What do you want to achieve? I hope more projects to come -- good and challenging projects. And win an award while I'm at it.

What is your advice to aspiring artists? Getting into showbiz takes a lot of luck to spot that hard-to-find opportunity. And when you find that opportunity, (be) firm (with your) decisions and (be) hard (at) work.

+++ This profile is obviously quite old (around three years old by my estimate). I'll update this as soon as I get more info.

Francine Prieto shrugs off "user-friendly" tag

From Philippine Entertainment Portal November 19, 2007:

Sexy actress Francine Prieto rebuffed accusations that she plays on her suitors' emotions by always asking favors before ditching them and leaving them in the cold.

"Hindi naman. Wala naman akong mga niloloko na lalaki dahil takot ako sa karma. Kaya nga sabi ko, ‘pag walang pag-asa 'yong lalake, inuunahan ko na kaagad. Parang magkaibigan na lang tayo, hanggang ganoon dahil ayoko nang umasa pa," explained Francine to Showbiz Central jurors Rufa Mae Quinto and DJ Mo Twister yesterday, November 18.

Francine also clarified that her relationship with former Bahay Mo Ba 'To? co-star Keempee de Leon never went beyond the bounds of friendship. "Magkatrabaho lang kami pero wala, e. Wala talaga, e, hanggang ganoon lang," she said.

But was there an attempt on Keempee's part or any subtle hint that he was interested in taking their friendship to the next level?

"Nagpa-cute. Nagtanong before sa akin kung may pag-asa daw siya," confessed Francine upon the incessant prodding of Bubble Gang co-star Rufa Mae.

Apparently, Kempee's modern method of wooing a girl doesn't match Francine's idea of traditional courtship.

"Gusto ko pumupunta sa bahay, nililigawan ako," Francine explained.

HELPING HAND. Another guy being linked to the statuesque comedienne is newsman Oscar Oida. According to rumors, Francine allegedly asked the GMA-7 reporter to do her school projects. And since Oscar was said to be smitten by Francine's charm, he wholeheartedly agreed while hoping that his gestures would endear him to the actress.

"Hindi ko siya pinagawa. Tinulungan niya ako," argued Francine. "Correction, isa lang po ‘yong ginawa niya. Tinulungan niya lang ako sa isang project ko, ‘yon lang."

Although she never said it directly, it was obvious that Francine turned down Oscar's love.

"Wala lang. Ano ba? Hindi talaga kami, e. Hindi talaga kami bagay sa isa't isa," she simply answered.

Francine generously shared the qualities she's looking for in a guy: "Importante sa akin ‘yong personality, e. Lalo na kapag matalino ‘yong lalaki,' yong masarap kausap."

Surprisingly, the guy doesn't necessarily have to be drop-dead gorgeous.

"‘Yong malinis lang yong hitsura, maayos 'yong hitsura. Hindi naman kailangang mala-Aga Muhlach or Richard Gomez."

+++ There is hope yet LOL! She asked some dude to help her with a school project? She should've asked me instead, hehe.
